Accommodation

The camp situated near the Mitumba stream in the northern end of the Park, the location being the best in the area, on the lakeshore, has a spacious beach and all the tents are under big shady trees.

Staying and relaxing at the camp overlooking the crystal clear waters of Lake Tanganyika, with remarkable sunsets, white sands and the beautiful spectacle of a fishing fire spread across the Lake at night. It is the closest thing to paradise.

There is a small reception area situated on the beach made out of local wood and a thatched roof with a wooden deck raised above the ground. The building also accommodates a library, information center, a curio shop, a bar and a lounge. For those who would like to relax, our beach has locally made cushioned lounge beds to laze on.

The kitchen and staff area, are situated well away from the main camp to allow privacy of guests. A generator is used to supply power from sunset to 23h00.

The tents are made of heavy-duty canvas material with ample space to relax and walk around in and well ventilated with zip down gauze windows and roll up flap doors. The tents are facing the Lake on raised wooden platforms to enhance the view. The décor has been specifically chosen to give you the African Safari experience. Most of the items used are locally produced. Each unit contains two single wooden beds with firm mattresses; these beds can be used as twin or double. Other furnishings in the unit include a writing desk and chair, bedside table and lamp and clothes rack. To the rear of each unit are en suite hot water shower and flush toilet. The deck has two comfortable safari chairs and a small table, which enables you to have a perfect view of the Lake and the sunsets. The units are adequately spaced apart to ensure your privacy.

Meals at the camp are a sumptuous affair. Breakfasts are American style with emphasis on tropical fruits and juices. Lunches are usually light. Evening meals are three courses. The specialty of being the freshly caught fish from the lake.
