Greystoke Tented Safari Camp is a place where your childhood dreams of the African jungle comes true. Greystoke is an exotic castaway retreat on a soft sand beach on the edge of Lake Tanganyika.

Miles of pristine shoreline of Lake Tanganyika

Tropical forests hang full of vines, waterfalls course down the mountain slopes and a thousand butterflies flutter like confetti. This epitomizes your adventure at Greystoke Tented Safari Camp.

Chimpanzees abound in the forest and some are so accustomed to human presence that they allow you to sit amongst them. There are other primates too, such as Colobus and Blue Monkeys.

Mahale Mountains National Park brings out the true adventurer in you and a holiday at Greystoke Safari Camp allows you to live a real life African dream. At Greystoke you can explore the Mahale Mountains National Park on foot or go fishing from a traditional Arab dhow on Lake Tanganyika - the world's longest lake and second deepest.

Important - Baggage Restriction Notification:
Due to the nature of this location the baggage allowance on 'Shared Charters' is 12 kilos per person, and this INCLUDES hand luggage. Any excess baggage will be left at airstrips.

Dining at Greystoke Tented Safari Camp is either staged by candlelight in the soaring thatch and canvas Mess Tent, which is half chimp exhibit and half African Chief's Palace! You really have to be here to be able to appreciate these unlikely combinations.

At other times dinner is served by the light of flaming torches at the water's edge, or on a moonlit lake on a 50-foot mahogany dhow floating gently on Lake Tanganyika.

Accommodation consists of just 6 double tents set on the sand towards the back of the beach against the forest.  Two lounge chairs adorn the front of each tent.  Behind each tent, a short 15 foot path leads to a private thatched and wooden bathroom.  There is a toilet on one side and a bucket shower on the other side that is filed with hot water upon your request.

Greystoke is unlike any other African safari camp you might have visited, with a more remote jungle type feel, which tends to bring out the adventurer in you.
